Create an External Indicator

External indicators in Fairways Debt enable you to manually list amount values for a purpose that suits your needs.

Note: Only account administrators can create external indicators.

  1. Log in to your Fairways Debt account.
  2. Select a customer account.
  3. Navigate to Applications > Account Administration.

Create an External Indicator
  1. Navigate to Account > Account Configuration.
  2. Click Add External Indicator.

  1. Complete the form with all relevant details.

Note: Fields marked with an asterisk * are mandatory.

Indicator code.

Note: Once created, the code cannot be edited.

Indicator name.

Associate Transaction Types

Transaction type(s) in the platform to which the external indicator applies.

Note: Leave this field blank to apply the indicator to all transactions.

Amount or percentage, which can be either:

  • On Date: The amounts/percentages only apply to specific dates.
  • Persistent: The amounts/percentages apply to a period.

Note: See On Date vs. Persistent for more details.

  1. Click Apply to create the indicator.

The new external indicator displays in the list.

If the Auto Custom Attributes setting is enabled for the account, the new external indicator is ready for use in transactions and reports. If the Auto Custom Attributes setting is disabled for the account, you are required to manually enable the external indicator for each organization.

On Date vs. Persistent

On date amounts/percentages only apply to specific dates, whereas persistent amounts/percentages apply to a period.

In this example, we have two indicators, one for each mode.

On Date Amounts

Persistent Amounts

If we set the value date to:

  • 29 March 2019: Neither on-date nor persistent values display.

  • 10 April 2019:
    • The exact on date value displays.
    • The exact or the closest early persistent value applies, here, the value on 30 March 2019 applies as 15 April 2019 is later than 10 April 2019.

  • 2 May 2019:
    • No on date value displays as no value matches that date.
    • The closest early persistent value applies, i.e. 30 April 2019.
