Lay out your application in order to match the environment. Cards simplify navigation and create a better hierarchy throughout the application.
Basic
Cards display a set of items related to one specific characteristic. It works with or without borders.
Editable
When you hover over a card, an Edit button 
displays on the right.
Clicking the button turns the card into an editable version.
Complex
Cards can do more than just displaying simple information. They can display complex (and structured) values that can evolve when you alter the run context. Complex cards require users to manipulate them: adjusting the settings inside the header, displaying the card full screen, etc.
